I got a call the other night from a lady who had lost her ring in the summer while visiting a friend. They were sitting on the deck enjoying the warm summer evening and she had taken her gold ring off to show her friend when it fell from her fingers through a crack between the boards in the deck. They removed some of the boards, and looked everywhere for the ring, but it was not found. When she called me she asked if I thought it was possible to find the ring. I told her that if it is there, there is a 100% chance that I would find it!
I removed a board from the deck and used a vibratector (a small, hand-held detector usually used for scuba diving) to conduct the search. The area was riddled with metal screws from the deck and other interference from the ground. It was a very dark and narrow space. After an hour of searching (and removing many pieces of metal from the search area) I located the ring! The owner was over the moon! It was a custom made gold wedding band that was irreplaceable, and the couple was just about to celebrate their thirtieth wedding anniversary! Another successful afternoon of metal detecting!
